Laura Mam
Laura became one of the first singer-songwriters to gain nationwide popularity for original music in Khmer and has been credited with helping to pioneer an original music revolution in Cambodia. She has been a brand ambassador for high-profile brands including Smart, Sony, Vivo, Porsche, Adidas, iflix, and Pepsi.
As an early YouTube star Laura Mam singing from her home in California, Laura captured Khmer audiences with her dramatic use of Khmer sounds merged into Western styles of music. Years later, Laura’s songs continue to be crowd-pleasing and high energy: she combines pop, dance, hip-hop, and Khmer instrumentation to deliver one of the best live acts in Cambodia.
At the height of her career, Laura co-founded Baramey production and decided to leverage her celebrity power to empower other original artists and make original music the standard. Through her work at the helm of the Khmer original music movement, Laura won the Arts & Culture award at the 2018 Women of the Future Southeast Asia Awards in Singapore.
